Review: Ravenburger’s “The Christmas Farm”

SCORE:  85

Box:  10/10

Image Quality (colors, sharpness):  8/10

Piece & Fit Quality:  9/10

Fun Factor:  7/10

Total Score:  34/40 or 85%

Box:  10

The box, as usual from Ravensburger, is of very high quality. The cardboard is sturdy and heavy and the colors are bright. The box design is very appealing with an image and name on the side for vertical shelving.

Image Quality:  8

The image is very soft. You can see in the people’s faces that there is not a lot of crisp detail. However, this seems to be inherent in the painting and not a fault of the reproduction. The colors are excellent.  I’m deducting a bit just because the image does feel very soft when you put the puzzle together and I prefer a somewhat crisper image.

Piece & Fit Quality:  9/10

The piece fit is excellent and the Ravensburger pieces are nice and thick. You never have a difficulty determining if two pieces really fit together or not and grouped pieces are not difficult to move. The piece shapes have consider variety for a puzzle with standard shaped pieces.

Fun Factor:  7/10

I love the annual Christmas puzzles, so I was excited to get this and put it together. The image is very appealing, and I love the farm theme. The assembly was fun, but not enough to put it in my top rankings. There was some good detail and bright colors, but also more than you’d think of white and brown and gray. The image softness was not my favorite as I prefer crisper images like Mike Jupp or JVH or Heye.  This is a subjective rating and I rank it a 7/10.

Summary:

Recommended if you enjoy the annual Christmas puzzles!
