Publisher: Buffalo Games (US), published 2016 Title:  “Melodrama in the Mist” by Charles Wysocki, Buffalo Games, 1000 pieces  Finished size: 26.75″ x 19.75″ OUR RATING: 9.25/10 Box Quality:  (9/10) The Buffalo Games boxes are very sturdy and have nice packaging design. The box is small at 8″ x 8″, but it comes with a poster inside so you don’t need to depend on the image on the box lid. The front, which you can see above, has the Charles Wysocki logo, and the Buffalo Games logo.Read more

Review: “Father’s Christmas Train” by Susan Brabeau, Sunsout – 8.25/10

“Father’s Christmas Train” is a cute Americana painting by Susan Brabeau that’s been made into a 500 piece puzzle by Sunsout. At the heart of the painting is a dad having a grand time playing with trains while his disinterested son reads a book. The cozy living room is decorated for Christmas and there’s a definite nostalgia vibe to the image. The Sunsout quality is very good, with sturdy pieces and a fun random piece cut. I like that you can move around a set of joined pieces without them falling apart. This is an easy puzzle that you can do in a single setting and would be good for kids and seniors. Recommended.Read more

Review: “The Yarn Shop” by Susan Brabeau, Sunsout – 8.25/10

This 1000 piece Susan Brabeau puzzle from Sunsout is a medium difficulty puzzle good for those who like a little more challenge. I enjoyed the random-cut piece, the art style, and the humor in this image, particularly the characters in the scene. There’s a lot of white-to-light-purple, and similar colors appear distributed throughout the scene, so it’s a bit trickier to assemble than some jigsaws. Recommended for fans of Americana, Susan Brabeau, or the knitter in your life! Score: 8.25/10Read more

Review: “And The Winner Is…” by Susan Brabeau, Sunsout – 9/10

I adored this 1000 piece Susan Brabeau puzzle from Sunsout. It’s a fun image that has large characters, a variety of easily-recognized colors and patterns, and a sweet little visual story. The Sunsout quality is very good with random-cut pieces and faithful reproduction of the details and colors of the original painting. Assembly is quick and relaxing thanks to the various dresses on the ladies, the ornate hats, and the unique colors and textures on the four cakes. Once you start it, you’ll be tempted to keep going until the last piece is placed. Highly recommended! Score: 9/10Read more

Review: “Proud Lil’ Angler” by Charles Wysocki, Buffalo Games – 8.5/10

This is a stunningly pretty and easy to assemble puzzle, ideal for those who prefer something less challenging than a standard 1000 piece puzzle. The Charles Wysocki image has beautiful colors and loads of fun details. The large pieces are easy to handle and have a nice, satisfying interlock. There’s never any confusion about whether a piece fits or not. The colors and patterns in the image make for clear-cut smaller areas to assemble. Overall, this is a relaxing puzzle that is ideal for seniors, kids, and family time.Read more

Review: “4th of July Parade” by Bob Pettes, Sunsout — 8.25/10

This 4th of July themed puzzle is an easy family project for those warm summer evenings. The round shape makes for an unusual and fun puzzle assembly. There are plenty of small figures throughout to discover as you put the puzzle together. Like most Sunsout puzzles, the pieces feel thick & sturdy. However, the cut is close to a grid cut with standard piece shapes even though corners don’t quite meet up. There’s a lot of green grass in the image, but objects and people break it up in most areas of the puzzle. The brown path with its marching figures is particularly fun to assemble. Recommended for anyone who likes Americana or holiday-themed puzzles.Read more

Celebrate summer with this lovely 4th of July themed puzzle by Tom Wood. This Sunsout puzzle features thick & sturdy pieces, a random-cut pattern with a good variety of piece shapes, and a tight interlock. With so many unique textures such as the red barn siding, the split-rail fence, the tent awnings, the signs, the ferris wheel, and the firework bursts in the sky, assembly goes quickly and easily. This is a puzzle that keeps your interest to the end. Recommended for anyone who likes Americana or holiday-themed puzzles.Read more
